It was an incredible sight on Friday (September 29) as friends, family, and fans of multiple award-winning Ghanaian musician Daddy Lumba gathered at the Bayview Village to celebrate the legend who had just turned 59.

The hotly-anticipated event, which was organized by DLFM — a radio station owned by Daddy Lumba — got underway at 7 p.m. and came to an end around 2 a.m.

It promised to be fun and entertaining, and like everything DL, the birthday bash absolutely lived up to the hype. The event was filled with millennials and shockingly even noughties babies, who did not witness a prime Daddy Lumba in his mojo.

Top Ghanaian music acts, Akua Serwaa Bonsu, KK Fosu, Kofi Nti, Borax, who all have worked with Daddy Lumba before, took turns to entertain the audience.

Akua Serwaa, who collaborated with Lumba on the critically-acclaimed “Hwan Na Otene” album, performed her classics “Nsamerane”, “Ebeyeyie” and his duet with Lumba “Hwan Na Otene”. Kofi Nti entertained the crowd with a number of Daddy Lumba greatest hits, including fan-favourites like “111666”, “Doctor Panee”, and “Menya Mpo”. Borax, a protégé of Daddy Lumba, known for his two albums with the legend — “Asee Ho” nd “Odo Bewu Dee”, performed “Nana Yaa” and “Asee Ho” on the night.

Renowned broadcast journalist and socialite, Serwaa Amihere, was among the popular faces who graced the birthday bash. The GHone media personality as always, looked absolutely ravishing, flaunting her famous curves and humongous backside in a figure-hugging orange outfit. Surprisingly, Serwaa, who is not known for her vocals, did not fare bad at all with her performance of Daddy Lumba classic, “Aben Wo Ha”.

And the moment everyone was eagerly waiting for — the arrival of the celebrant Daddy Lumba — took place at 12:40 am, sending the enthusiastic crowd into total hysteria, reminiscent of The Beatles and Michael Jackson fans. It was incredibly tough for security to walk the legend to the stage as the fans were all over him.

Perhaps, the most beautiful moment of the night was when Daddy Lumba serenaded his wife, Odo Broni, with emotional and romantic performance of song “Odofo Pa Ama Ntem”. The touching tribute made both Daddy Lumba and wife cry.

Apostle Francis Amoako Attah, a familiar face on DLFM, shared the stage with Daddy Lumba, as he led prayers asking God to bless Daddy Lumba with good health and a lengthy life.

As the birthday bash came to a close, lovers of Daddy Lumba exited the venue with their hearts filled with joy and memories that will last forever. The event had not only been a celebration of Daddy Lumba life but also a testament to his intimate connection with his fans.
